We stayed at Offut AFB right outside of Omaha. It was pretty convenient so we caught up on laundry, work and rest. And we saw a huge lightening storm during the night.
But we slept in Nebraska!

Wonderful Minnesota
The Mall of America - is there anything better....
And then we moved on to church in Minneapolis and ran into Rick and Jodie Landrum.
Dinner with new friends and their son, Trey.
High Points by Mom:
- Military discount for a whole day of rides in a mall - cool, clean, bright, fun and all-American!
- Eating at Chipotle and Jamba Juice all in one day.
- Being in a mall with American Girl, Lego, Apple and much more, who'd a thunk I would miss that?
- Going to a friendly church with a big SS.
- Seeing Prin friends at church and hanging out with them.
- A great RV park with a pool and lots of kids for O to play with. Wifi for me:-)
North Dakota - dont blink
No pictures to see because we didnt do anything but sleep in Fargo and drive around.
Just a post to say we've been there.
The rest of South Dakota
Wall Drug - a must if you are in the area!
Followed closely by The Bandlands - if I were a pioneer I would never have made it.
On to the Corn Palace, an American wonder.
Then to De Smet, home to one of Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum.
High Points by Mom:
- Seeing the moon-like Badlands and realizing I didnt have to live in that.
- Eating a popcorn ball covered in peanut butter!!!! Must have more.
- Learning that Laura Ingalls Wilder was under 5' and Almonzo was 5'4"

Heading into South Dakota
Spearfish and the Black Hills of SD!
First stop - Crazy Horse Memorial!
This is how far it is: head and top of arm
Started in the 1940s, the second generation of the family are now working on the project
These are models of what it will look like - in another 3 generations.
And then on to Mt Rushmore!
And its farewell to Deb...wish it were longer.
We were lovingly hosted by a Heinbaugh Aunt - Kris.
On a down day we visited a local wild animal rescue - just to see a bear!
And, of course, Owen teased the cat into climbing the fence!
High Points by Mom:
- More family time!
- Seeing Mt Rushmore in person
- Crazy Horse is so worth it, especially if you are learning about Native Americans
- Deadwood and seeing my brother right before Sturgis!
- Meeting great people, like Kris Christenson
- Spearfish - its a beautiful town
