Winterroth Basecamp near Boston and meeting up with the other RV family! (Huge post)

Our long-time friends, Jeff and Debbi Winterroth, gave us space in their driveway and room in their hearts and house for 2 full weeks while we explored much of Boston. The kids loved having their own rooms, wifi, warm dinners at a family table, and regular living for a while. Debbi was one of my bridesmaids 19 years ago.

Our first day there, Debbi took me kayaking down the Charles River, past North End, in front of the USS Constitution and through the Loch!

A great part of Boston was finally getting to know the other CS RV family who hit the road roughly the same time and are traversing approximately the same path! Scott, Kim, Mackenzie and Natalie Shivers are from St Louis. Its a comfort and a blessing to be "traveling" together.

We also got to see some friends from camp and church.

Deonna Heath and her family

Nathan Bowen - Nabo

A SS friend from Honolulu who is going to Boston College now - Keith.

And of all things, my family on my Dad's side - Aunt Lenore, Aunt Jackie and my cousin Paul. We hung out for a day or two seeing sights.

The things to do in Boston are endless, and we didnt even dig deep.
First, was a trip to Plimoth Plantation and the Mayflower II.

What has the strength of 10 men, but is so long it cant be stood on end,
yet a man can hold it in the palm of his hand?

And then on to Downtown Boston and The Freedom Trail, with all its history.
I am not labeling things, so I hope you know what you are looking at. :-)

This is as close as we got to the USS Constitution - Oct 1, 2013! What a bummer!

And we did things outside of Boston.

Salem - Ship building capital and Nathanial Bowditch home

JFK Presidential Library - With Cousin Paul's group

New Bedford Whaling Museum - awesome and historical

Herman Melville's church and tribute

While at Jeff and Debbi's, Janice, their neighbor, gave Owen carriage driving lessons and rides.
It was awesome.

And, yes, this photo has been on the blog before, but I didnt take any pics of Jeff!

Highlights from Mom:
  • Hannah getting 15+ community service house in with Debbi
  • Being at home with family!
  • Hannah having a door on a room all to herself.
  • Watching Jane Eyre movies!
  • Kayaking through Boston with Debbi
  • Owen getting a paintball dart gun from Jeff and trying to shoot squirrels.
  • Owen having a huge yard, trees, fire and more to play with!
  • Carriage rides and shooting lessons with Janice and Charles
  • The subway and commuter rail - what a learning experience
  • History upon history upon history.
  • Old friends who I havent seen in a long time
  • New friends who will be around for a good long while.
