Hometown fun with our HI friends, the Williams

Our good friends from home own an adorable property near Charlottesville so stayed a few days to relax and catch up - if only Hannah's best HI friend could have been there too! Owen was out in the woods or pasture the entire time fulfilling that inner boy call of the wild.

There adorable "cabin" on 18 beautiful acres in farmland VA.

Some fun trips around the area - a suspension bridge across a flooded road.

Apple and pumpkin farms

A very old house that now resides in a cow pasture.

And oh the colors!

We spent Halloween there as well - trunk or treat. You can see we didnt go all out.

Rebecca and I took a side trip to Polyface farms. Check out the website for this guy, especially if you are in to local farming, healthy techniques, pull your own self up ideals and homeschooling!

Highlights by Mom:
  1. Seeing our friends and catching up on HI things.
  2. Getting to help clear wire and limbs on a beautiful property in VA.
  3. Polyface farms
  4. Yoders Mennonite Market

Macomber Blitz Trip!

Kathleen, Will and Pilar Macomber flew up to the DC area to spend a fun long weekend with us. Will even told the hotel he owned an RV so we could park it in the back parking lot.

Day 1 - did I mention blitz trip?

US Bureau of Engraving and Printing

Walking The Mall in DC

Natural History Museum

American History Museum

This was a map on the wall - any guesses as to what portion of the USA this is?

Old Post Office - very obscure but neat side trip!

Day 2, while Hannah was at Prin on a Biology class meeting....

We hit the newer Air and Space out by Dulles. Its way worth it.

The Space Shuttle

Because it was close to Halloween they had a dress up day and literally the entire Star Wars crew was there in dress up. We didnt get many pics cause O was embarrassed to ask, but it was way cool!

Day 3 - Mount Vernon for Fall Festival, and we were getting a little punchy.

Washington wanted to look fashionable, which at the time was stucco. It cost too much, so he had whitewashed sand applied to make it look in style. It is still maintained today.

And the last day of this whirlwind fun, while Hannah was away at Prin and the Macombers returned to FL, Owen and I took a tour of Ft McHenry in Baltimore.

Really, Mom, so infantile!

Highlights by Mom:
  1. Having the Macombers to play with for the weekend.
  2. Being in DC again for the first time in 4 years.
  3. Burr, its so cold, it reminds me how much I love HI!
  4. Whats not to love about DC and all there is to se.
