We got to spend time with out great friend Jess Morse. She went out of her way to see us and we loved every moment of it - she is really missed in HI!
Over Veterans day weekend, Jess took us (Owen, Hannah, cousin Grace and me) to the Williamsburg area, where we got to hang out with Winnie, see Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestowne and The Battle of Yorktown site. It was so much fun! Too much to describe in words, but the pics say a lot.
The Governor's Mansion - a loyalist to the bitter end!
His shower!
In my life-long endeavour to educate myself I attend George Wythe University for my Masters in Alternative Education. This is George Wythe's home - bet you dont know who he is. :-)
And here he is too!
Funny!
Funnier!!
The people in character were wonderful and our most exciting experience was talking to James Munroe - he even flirted with Jess! The actors got us into the spirit of the time and answered our questions, read the Declaration, gave speeches, stormed the governors house, and wonderfully entertained us.
Jess and I got to sit as jury on a moot court.
Jess landed herself in jail!
Winn was once in the Fife and Corp band so she introduced our girls to some of her friends.
Jess had us over to make pies, play games and see her awesome home! We ate crickets, toured the National Art Gallery, ate HI type food and toured the city.
Hannah's first lemon meringue!
Cricket time!
Highlights by Mom:
- Spending quality time with Jess!
- Seeing her place and watching her let the kids loose making pie crust!
- Going outside my comfort zone - crickets, yum yum.
- Zipping around in her Mazda while she loaned it to us. :-)
- Having her be part of the family for T-day!
